Senior Accounting Technician

New Wave Sports Canada Inc. is a leading distributor in the sports gloves and apparel sector. Since 2011, the company has been part of the large Swedish family of New Wave Group. Our products are known worldwide for their quality, performance, and fit. New Wave Sports Canada Inc. markets gloves in various categories under the brands AUCLAIR, Laurentide, and Projob. The company also holds the distribution rights for CRAFT products in Canada.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief Accountant, the Senior Accounting Technician will join our team to carry out various accounting tasks with precision and accuracy.

Responsibilities :

  • Enter purchase invoices into accounting systems
  • Record payments and disbursements in accounting systems
  • Properly reconcile credit card payments
  • Reconcile customer and supplier accounts
  • Prepare monthly and annual tax returns (GST/QST, etc.)
  • Perform financial analyses upon request
  • Make bank deposits
  • Assist in preparing month-end and year-end financial reports
  • Assist in preparing documents for financial audits
  • Participate in payroll management, including salary processing and related entries
  • Provide technical support to the accounting team during absences (vacations, workload surges, etc.)
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external clients
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes
  • Perform any other related tasks

Qualifications & Skills :

  • College diploma (DEC) in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and the full accounting cycle
  • Understanding of bookkeeping principles, accounting, and Canadian tax regulations, laws, and standards
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a similar role
  • Bilingual: Fluent in French and intermediate English
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel
  • Detail-oriented and precise
  • Methodical, structured, and highly analytical
  • Autonomous, responsible, and rigorous while being team-oriented
  • Excellent priority management and time management skills
  • Knowledge of SAP Business One and SAP accounting systems is an asset
