Rainbow Mitts - Tots

Bought my 4-year-old a size 6-6x because reviews indicated they run small. The smaller fit wasn’t the issue, and the 6-6x does fit well as an actual size 4.

I was skeptical about how such a thin nylon could be waterproof, but was open to trying them out. We took the tags off the mittens last night and when my son came home from school today the mittens were soaked through. I put them in the wash and when I took them out of the wash (regular cool wash and rinse), the black waterproof coating on the palm had disintegrated in multiple areas about the size of a quarter, and the grey waterproofing is cracked and peeling away in chunks. Absolutely brutal. I guess he can wear them when we’re going outside with zero chance of playing in the snow, but as a waterproof mitten these are a disaster.

We have another pair of heavier-duty Auclair mittens that are more waterproof (though not completely waterproof) and without the issue of the peeling palms.

I ordered a few different styles of mitts from Auclair that were on sale for my 1.5 year old and 3.5 year old.

This particular style fit the best and easy to get onto my 1.5 year old but she wore for 2 days and the zipper broke! Out popped a little hand in -15.

Auclair did a great job on warranty and we will see how the same pair they replaced with holds up!

Belles mitaines très chaudes comme je m'attendais, mais le zip s'est brisé à la deuxième utilisation... Elles sont encore fonctionnelles, mais c'est plus difficile d'enfiler les mitaines (en plus du bébé qui se débat lorsqu'on lui met!). Un peu déçue quand même.
